I'm really enjoying learning Thai, and I want to share my joy with others. I don't know how often I'll do this, but I think sometimes I'll do tweet threads for spelling or video clips for listening to learn Thai from BL stars.
Let's start with spelling #MewGulf.

Most waanjai can recognize MewGulf in Thai - มิวกลัฟ, or sometimes, like in polls, มิว-กลัฟ.
Want to be able to actually read it?
Let's start with Mew - มิว.
ม=M. Be careful, bc just like in English, it looks very close to N=น.
Pay attention to where the loops are. +

ว=W. The little sign over the M in มิว is actually a vowel.
In English, vowels always come after consonants. In Thai, they can be after, above, below, or even in front of the consonant! For now, just now that xิว=EW.
So ม (M) + xิว (EW) = มิว (Mew). +

Now for Gulf - กลัฟ.
ก=G, although it's sometimes spelled with a K. Did you know that Gulf's (กลัฟ) and Kao's (เก้า) names both start with the same consonant? Yep. Kao's name is pronounced Gao. I don't know why it's spelled like that.

There is no LF sound in Thai, but there is a GL sound, so the L comes next. That's why Gulf's name is often spelled or pronounced Gluf.
ล=L
Next is the vowel that goes over the ล.
xั = uh
Then we end with
ฟ=F (*)
So กลัฟ = Gluf = Gulf.

*Most ending consonants aren't pronounced the same as when they start a word in Thai. ฟ at the end of a word is pronounced like a P rather than an F, which is how you also end up with Gup.

I don't know if this is interesting to anybody or not.
If it is, next time I'll do the full #หวานใจมิวกลัฟ (waanjai MewGulf).
Should I start my own ht if I keep this up? Something like #/ThaiWithJen? Let me know!

PS - If somebody who knows more Thai than me ever catches a mistake, PLEASE let me know! It's the only way I'll learn
