Short thread on trying out $SOL:

If you want to try your hand at #Solana, I suggest immediately putting you name on the waitlist to grab the @phantom wallet. Sollet works ok to get started though (web wallet).
Some projects will let you use a @ledger wallet directly too. Install the #Solana application on your ledger. And make sure you change the Solana App Ledger settings to

Allow Blind Sign = Yes

#sol
Some projects to check out are:

@orca_so

A really nice AMM dex. Farming and token coming soon.
@RaydiumProtocol

AMM dex and yield farming
@mangomarkets

Leveraged trading, and lending/borrowing
@StepFinance_

Portfolio dashboard, and also has swap feature with more to come apparently (wants to be 1inch for Solana).
You need $SOL for transaction fees. Fees are super tiny, like 4 one hundredths of a cent. I get my sol from either binance or FTX exchanges. Pretty odd it's not listed on Coinbase yet.
Ok so next thing you need to know is tokens work a little differently to ethereum. You have to manually list/add each token to your wallet (although somehow phantom abstracts this away) which requires an on-chain tx. Some protocols also seem to add the tokens when you do a swap.
Solana has a heap of wrapped tokens, like BSC does. I've noticed FTX will often let you withdraw your coins as a wrapped SPL token which is handy.
projects still needed on #Solana:

An Aave/compound clone: especially with AMM LP token colaterlisation.

A makerdao/DAI clone

A yield farm that offers rewards for more pairs than it's own token.

An autofarm/beefy clone that re-compounds your rewards

Curve clone
and final note, upcoming token launches you want to keep your eyes out for are @mangomarkets and @orca_so
You can follow @iwearahoodie.
