Today's discussion on reclamation of cripple is just a reminder how huge the divide is between the disability community when it comes to physical vs. mental disabilities despite how often we see this rhetoric that everyone is accepting and understanding of physical disabilities.

y'all can't even let physically disabled people have our word that was specifically used against us and get mad at us for calling it out.

I was never called a cripple for being mentally disabled but I've been called it multiple times for being physically disabled.

Us telling you "hey this word is a slur that you can't reclaim" is suddenly policing how mentally disabled people feel about their disabilities and the severity of it despite the fact that we even give you lists of alternatives that communicate that.

But y'all want "crippled."

Honestly slur discourse is already extremely exhausting as a Black queer disabled person.
