Ok so tell me if I'm going insane or if I'm missing something [a thread]. Also this may not make sense because I suck at formulating thoughts, but I'm gonna try. Because I truly, truly, want to understand +
People keep saying that OC will flop without Mariska. They say that Olivia Benson allowing him back into his life is equivalent to some heinous (lol) things that I won't even repeat. +
Just a few things- 1) it makes perfect sense for Mariska to be involved in OC. Why would Elliot Stabler come back to New York to work on a police force and have ZERO interaction with Olivia? 2) If the show were truly going to flop without Mariska, why is it that I, and others, +
find ourselves actually enjoying the show as a standalone? Episode 3 was the first to not have Mariska, but, according to IMDB, had the same rating as episode 2. So yeah, people may be watching for the Benson/Stabler dynamic, but the show is seriously SO. GOOD. +
Like it would SUUUCK if Olivia actually told Elliot to fuck off and she never wants to see him again, but chances are, I'd keep watching OC. Stop trying to downplay it because it actually is quite brilliant. +
Also.... and THIS is what makes me feel like I'm going insane- people keep saying Mariska is forced into things... but like..... have they not seen the Chris/Mariska friendship? Like aren't they IRL BFFs? Because, based on what I've seen, the answer is yes, so please+
tell me where it says I should believe otherwise. Ultimately, Mariska is the driving force of SVU, she knows what she wants, and she's not going to do things she doesn't want to do. If that means EO, cool. If that means O/Tucker's Ghost, I mean, okay if you're into that. +
Like I'm constantly saying, at the end of the day, these are just TV shows. If you're taking it as seriously as some people are taking it (*ahem* referencing a certain comment on a different app)... you might want to get a hobby. +
Let people ship what they want. Let people want to see things happen. The writers know what they're doing. The actors have input. At this point, all the negativity is frustrating and, quite frankly, exhausting. +
And that is all. I'm going to go back to making bracelets now.
