Right V Wrong & White Privilege:

As many of you will be aware, @GatissJudy (a black woman has been on the receiving end of the most vile, disturbing, Ableist and Racist abuse that we have witnessed in written/emoji form.
2:
This abuse has been relentless and constant for the last 2-3 WEEKS, from none other than the Resist Hate camp, the irony! Words such as ‘m**g’ and ‘r****d’ accompanied by banana emojis have been a regular feature!
3:
Unfortunately, this week @LouiseRawAuthor (well known for fighting racism ‘on the streets, someone who goes eyeball to eyeball with the worst of them’ currently, mutually followed for a long time) -
4:
‘was trying to be even handed-perhaps foolishly, when feelings are running so high’ (her words) by posting the following now deleted tweet:
5:
This was posted in defence of the ‘monkey’ account. I can only assume this was deleted because of the various challenges posted in reply to her by other anti racists with much smaller Twitter accounts.
6:
It was a wise move by her as the sheer quantity of the abhorrent content of this ‘monkey’ account was blatantly on display even at a cursory glance. How @LouiseRawAuthor could have misread the abusive intent of these numerous tweets directed at @GatissJudy is beyond me.
7:

To give her the benefit of doubt, assuming she hadn’t checked the recent TL and was referencing historical tweets, common sense dictates she could have and without doubt should have explored the account
8:
with the due attention considering the pushback towards her initial deleted tweet?!? It seems not, as she then decided to post this:
9:
By writing ‘I was trying to correct one misunderstanding’ – IMO she is again way off the mark, she not only fails to see or acknowledge the abuse towards @GatissJudy, she is trying to dictate what is and isn’t racist abuse directed towards people of colour.
10:
Could this be white privilege?
I know what I now believe.
Yes she goes on to say ‘I would of course condemn emojis being used in a racist way. That would be horrifying.’
11:
Immediately followed by: ‘incorrect accusations don’t help anyone’.

Of course they don’t, but which accusations were inaccurate?
12:
Since this tweet, I have been in several private conversations with you my ‘comrades’, every single one of you acknowledges the racial intent of the banana emojis within these tweets.
13:
For those of you still in any doubt, have you forgotten the bananas being thrown at black footballers? Seriously! What rock are you living under?!?
14:
A question regarding these tweets by @LouiseRawAuthor keeps rearing its head in my DMs, ‘where are the larger accounts?’ Although I can’t answer for all of them, up until last night, I was within a Twitter group
15:
where one individual (Ref:Y) (indirectly acknowledging the initial tweet by @LouiseRawAuthor was a mistake), doesn’t believe an apology is due because of @LouiseRawAuthor’s proven record for fighting racism and due to how supportive she has been to this individual and
16:
others in the past, and for these reasons their loyalty remains with @LouiseRawAuthor – For the record, if I ever make such a mistake, I urge you all to call me out on it, regardless of how close we may become, regardless of how much support I may provided you.
17:
TWO WRONGS NEVER MAKE A RIGHT!
18:
A quote which disturbed and hurt me (by X):
‘So this is gonna go on for months now guys. My loyalty lies with Louise. She made a mistake as we all do. Every last one of us knows she would never knowingly defend a racist.
19:
Her life is spent chasing them out of towns and abusing them ffs. As we’ve seen before, this will be blown out of proportion by Judy and Co. When it gets too heavy I’ll wade in. For now I’m staying out.’
20:
In reply to this, if @LouiseRawAuthor has made a mistake, should she not as publicly condemn the account posting the abuse?
21:
Should she not acknowledge SHE made a mistake and apologise
instead of doubling down by trying to dictate to the black woman and everyone else they have misunderstood?
Her tweets like everyone’s are
22:
rightly open to public scrutiny! She’s not a personal friend to all of us out here in the public domain!

Oh how dare they have a go at our Louise, don’t they know she’s got a license to do whatever? NO she doesn’t!
23:
A DM quote regarding the above from within the group:
‘I have just now read X’s comment and Y’s saying agree 100% with X. They are both wrong. Louise should have and still should apologise.’ So, no not everyone agrees with you!
24:
A quote that hurt me the most:
‘They’ll cry racism’ - do you hear yourself?!?

The vast majority of POC live and experience racism, in many cases on a daily basis.
25:
I hope I haven’t ‘blown this out of proportion’. I hope people don’t see this as another attack by a POC ‘crying racism’, but see this as a plea for you to question yourself, reflect and realise we don’t take pleasure in ‘crying racism’.
26:
I KNOW NEITHER X or Y WOULD EVER PICK MY SIDE after this, we know what you’re like once someone ‘opposes’ you.
27:
For the rest, ask yourselves, did you not pick sides when you discovered you’re a socialist? Did you not pick sides when you fought against fascists when you expressed your solidarity with me?
28:
It’s not about picking sides, this is about ALLWAYS speaking the truth and not hiding behind loyalty to friendships! Yes friendships are important, but TRUTH has to come first, our conscience must always be clear.
29:
I hope people can find it within themselves to recognise they don’t get to decide whether something is racism when being perpetuated by a friend, I hope they can change their outlook regardless however long they have been fighting the good cause.
30:
It’s never a great feeling having to question yourself because it’s easier to remain set in our ways, but it’s necessary sometimes as ‘we all make mistakes’, it’s how we address them that matters.

DO WHATS RIGHT.

Not just when we feel like it!

While I was trying to process all of the above, I conducted a couple of polls, scenarios of when in life we call out ‘large accounts, influential individuals’ of society. These examples came to mind: 👇🏽👇🏽👇🏽
