I've watched something yesterday that urged me to speak up, especially in a day such as today. For those who are not from Portugal, they are most likely unaware that we celebrate Liberty Day today. A dictatorial regime was brought to an end. It was the Carnation Revolution. [1]
The thing I saw, and that I was stupidly ignorant about is the dreadful situation that Myanmar 🇲🇲 is in. They too have fallen victims of a military coup that is ravaging the people they swore to protect. [2]
How come I hardly see anyone rallying for justice for their cause? Probably because they are a "small", "insignificant" country in the grand scheme of things. If this happen here today, I wonder if we too would be left to deal with it ourselves. [3]
To fend against the full force of violent puppets with weapons. I know I won't make much of a difference by saying this. But I was made aware of the depth of this problem and it hurt. Especially on a day like today. The 25th of April, our dear Liberty Day. 🇵🇹[4]
If you find yourself in a position that can raise awareness or can help boycott the Myanmar military forces, I'd urge you to do so. So that Democracy can keep being celebrated across more parts of this world. #FREEMYANMAR [end of thread]
