.)So just before covid was a reality, my wife surprised me with tickets to the Living Dead Weekend 85 edition, to be hosted at Dawn of the Dead(79) film location, The Monroeville mall. They announced all the stars that were to there. Missing from the roster, was Jewel Shepard.
.) Seeing her missing from the lineup was messing with me because she played the character that delivered some of my favorite one liners from ROTLD, so I reached out to her on Twitter.
.)After a discussion with her( I almost shit when she DM'd me!) I found out that due to politics i won't mention because it isn't my place(but i think is total bullshit), living dead weekend chose not to invite her.
.) Over the course of the next year, I would have the pleasure of discussing different subjects from U.S politics to general health and well being. My parents took notice of my enthusiasm. It was hard not to notice. I got to talk to a major crush from my fav zombie film!
.) After hearing all my stories, my mom reached out to Jewel and arranged some autographs for me to come in the mail for my bday. Jewel not only talked me up to my mom, she sent what my mom paid for, plus bonus stuff. This is what came.
.) The first pic, is a set of newsletters from her fan club , circa 94-97 all Autographed. 2nd pic is a DVD ' Jewel Naked around the world' also autographed.
.) And the Bonus: When Jewel was on her way to the post office to mail my birthday presents, she runs into Miguel Nunez Jr, who played Spider In ROTLD, and she gets me his autograph too!!!! This is a big deal, because he doesn't do too many cons, so this was an epic surprise.
.) So to bring it all to a close, thanks again @Jewelshepard for making my 36th birthday on this planet, one that i will never forget!
