hardcore anime fans will pitch a fit about translations not being 1:1 with the original text but anyone who does this professionally or for a living will tell you you are deranged
my main issue with the nagatoro or whatever its called discussion is that the usage of "sus" is clearly appropriation of aave and will be horribly dated not because of aave itself being a cool trend, but because of nb people treating it like it is
that being said though, words like "cringe," "scrub," "newbie," etc are literally fine. these are all easily recognizable terms in the english language
these are all short, concise words that get the point of the text across in the least amount of syllables, which, as a translator, is all we can hope for with j->e translations, as english tends to use more words to convey what japanese does in a few
while i don't think the using the word "sus" was a professional decision, translators are a dying breed and insinuating that the person responsible be fired is more than a little preposterous
translators aren't perfect and demanding that they be fired for lacking better direction from their higher-ups is insane
