I would honestly be charmed if my daughters wanted to play with dolls more. Instead, it’s basically nothing but video games. Minecraft, 12 hours a day is their dream life. https://twitter.com/ada_di_ora_mma/status/1375351085024612352
My speculative, nonstandard evolutionary hypothesis is that nature has looked ahead, seen a future where people work 9 hours a day in front of a computer, and figure it might as well get kids trained early on this.
Meanwhile, play with dolls? What with declining birth rates and all, seems like kind of a waste of time. Like spending your childhood training to become a medieval knight.
I don’t really mean this thread as too serious an argument regarding innate differences. But just struck me how the standard “play with dolls” line feels anachronistic today. It’s just video games. Give them their first preference, and they only want to play with video games.
