I just joined Twitter a few wks ago and it’s admittedly a bit overwhelming. Here goes with my 1st post…I currently lead a 250+ person service team and it strikes me there are some underappreciated leadership lessons that are more important now than ever. 1/5 - Vision/Purpose - Have both a well articulated company vision and set of values but also require team members to document their personal purpose and how they connect. How Will You Measure Your Life is a great book if you& #39;re interested in exploring purpose further
2/5 - Relationships/Trust - Nothing is more important than establishing personal relationships and trust with members of your team...reduces friction. @realrookieceo talks about relationship bldg in the context of technician ride-alongs in his great interview with @aebridgeman
3/5 - Bias Towards Action - Instill this in your team, when hurdles arise, research what to do, the information is all out there! This is esp difficult in a large org where analysis paralysis is rampant. @StrongpointRich talks about this in his interview with @fortworthchris
4/5 - Red Queen Effect - The pace of change in the world is only accelerating so it& #39;s important for everyone on your team, no matter their role, to constantly be leveling up. This will never end. I wrote a blog post about this here - https://www.tombirchard.com/post/the-red-queen-effect">https://www.tombirchard.com/post/the-...
5/5 - Accountability - Where possible, have clear lines of accountability. Matrix structures are popular in large orgs, but strive for defined ownership to reduce redundant communication. @naval talks about gaining specific knowledge, then accountability, and then leverage
I& #39;m genuinely curious, what are some leadership lessons you see as critical that few people are talking about? Thanks for reading, first Tweet in the books!
