Fundamentally, traumatized people are not like-able. Speaking from personal experience here. We don’t talk enough about how trauma creates attachment disorders that either make ppl clingy or reserved in ways that neurotypical people perceive as deviant or disingenuous or both
Abuse victims in particular learn to be manipulative as a survival tactic, and by extension are continually isolated throughout their lives and experience perpetual (or perceived) rejection that reinforces the first episode(s) of abuse
Socially, the larger culture perceives most trauma symptoms as undesireable and reinforces the idea that severely traumatized people shouldn’t exist and I believe many suicides are a consequence of that experience in particular even more than their initial traumas
These are my opinions and observations, I’m not a mental health professional
Folx are really triggered by me blanket stating that we’re unlikeable, and while I thought I made it clear that I’m talking about the realities of White Supremacy, Capitalism and Patriarchy defining like-ability not everybody is getting that. So I’m finna mute this tweet 😬
