I see people talking about how to prepare for law school. I know I may be in the minority on this but I am here to tell you the truth. As someone who did very well in law school I think I can speak from authority. So here goes:
THE ULTIMATE LAW SCHOOL PREPARATION GUIDE
/1
Now I was what many people considered a "gunner." You'll hear this word soon if you haven't already, and in fact you might be a gunner if you're worried about how to prepare for law school. But don't let the haters get you down. There is nothing wrong with wanting to do well./2
There is much to be said about getting in to law school and preparing for the LSAT, but I am going to assume that you have already done that, so this guide starts when you have been admitted and accepted an offer./3
Please make sure to read to the end of the thread because I don't want you to miss any of the very important steps.

First thing is this: Congratulations on being admitted to law school! /4
Next thing: I'm going to skip over the parts about finding housing and moving to a new city, which may or may not apply to you, and because those things don't really matter very much for how well you will do./5
For the same reasons, I'll skip over attending the various seminars and such for admitted students, though you should definitely go to those because typically the Dean of Admissions will spend the entire time telling you how great you and your classmates are, which is fun./6
What you really want to know is this: What can you do BEFORE law school to make sure you do well IN law school? /7
So here goes: At some point, you will receive a list of the classes you are going to take. These will likely be the typical first year classes like Torts, Contracts, Property, etc. Look at the list carefully and note the names of your professors./8
There also will likely be a list of books you need to buy for each course. This is very important: buy those books. You cannot do well in law school if you don't buy the books for the required reading./9
There also will be first day reading assignments. This is different from undergrad where you usually don't get any assignments until the first day of class. So, and this is vital, make sure you do the reading assignments before the first day of class./10
You might wonder if there's anything special about these assignments, and there kind of is. The reading will be old court decisions. @OrinKerr has a pretty good article he posts every fall about how to read cases for new law students, so keep an eye out for that./11
So, if you do the reading--before the first day of class--and do your best to understand it, you will be well prepared to do well in law school.

But wait, you want to know what you should do between now and getting that first set of assignments. I'm glad you asked./12
This is important, and you should absolutely do these things if you are able and if you really want to do well in law school:

1. Relax.
2. Enjoy your summer.

You think I am kidding but I am not. Law school will be stressful enough. You should be in your best mental health./13
Finally, congratulations again on being admitted to law school. You are going to do great. If you ever want some advice, and I am serious about this, my DMs are open. /x
OH WAIT! I forgot to tell you something, and it is a really cool thing. This isn't before law school. It happens during your first year. Usually some point in your second semester but maybe toward the end of the first. At some point, you will wake up and look around and .../x+1
The world will be--in the words of the person who introduced me to this concept--"glistening with the law." Kind of like this, except less green and more, well, law-ish./x+2
You will order coffee and wonder: have I just entered into a contract? What if they don't give me the coffee? What if I spill it? What if I spill it on the person next to me? I can't really describe it better, but it is something to look forward to and I'm excited for you./xx
