A quick reminder of the moral failures of @hrw, before they release their disgusting new libel about Israel:
1) Human Rights Watch fundraised in Saudi Arabia in 2009 explicitly on a platform of using it for anti-Israel messaging.
1) Human Rights Watch fundraised in Saudi Arabia in 2009 explicitly on a platform of using it for anti-Israel messaging.
2) Their own founder, Robert Bernstein, wrote an op-ed in 2009 in the New York Times, saying that @hrw had lost its way and become nothing more than an anti-Israel mouthpiece, rife with bias against Israel.
3) In 2010, a member of @hrwâs Board of Directors was quoted saying that the organization âseek[s] the limelightâ, and Israel is âlow-hanging fruitâ for criticism so they can get attention and more fundraising dollars, indicating massive bias.
4) Their Israel Director was removed from Israel because he supports BDS, a movement whose goal is destroying Israel. He lied and claimed he did not support it until mountains of evidence showed that he did, and was lying.
5) Human Rights Watch has long supported policies that would replace Israel with a single Palestinian-run state, thus denying Jews the right to self-determination and making us stateless once more.
6) @hrw took money from a Saudi real estate tycoon in 2012 and promised not to use the money to advocate for LGBTQ+ rights in the Middle East, after they had found labor violations at his business. They claimed they returned the donation in 2020, after it was revealed.
7) They played a huge role in debunked and retracted UN reports attacking Israel, like the Goldstone Report alleging Israeli war crimes in 2008, whose author said the report would have looked âvery differentâ if he knew later on what he thought he knew then (relying on @hrw).
8) @hrw perpetuated disease libels about Jews this year, ignoring both the ICJ and Oslo Accords and claiming that Israel had an obligation to vaccinate Palestinians for COVID, even though intâl law clearly says it does not.
9) @hrw called on FIFA to punish Israel for having games in âsettlementsâ, but did not call on them to punish the Palestinian FIFA head for saying they would nuke Israel if they could, and encouraging the murder of Jews.
10) @hrwâs leader, Ken Roth, is obsessed with Israel but rarely sticks up for Jews under assault amidst rising antisemitism. An analysis of his tweets over an 18 month period found that he criticizes Israel more than the rest of the world combined (70% of his tweets).
11) That same analysis of the head of @hrw, Ken Roth, found that in November/December 2019, 93% of his tweets talking about âillegalâ activities were criticizing Israel (50 total). 0 for North Korea, Hamas, Russia, China, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Iran... https://twitter.com/hillelneuer/status/1211230826794536962">https://twitter.com/hillelneu...
12) @hrwâs former Director of the Middle East and North Africa Division, Sarah Leah Whitson, repeatedly crossed into antisemitism. She claimed, for example, that British Jews calling out antisemitism in the UK are actually proof of âIsraelâs interferenceâ in domestic UK politics.
13) Whitson also invoked the blood libel, claiming that Jews âgetting a tasteâ of what occupation is like during COVID lockdowns are missing a âtablespoon of bloodâ. This is a dogwhistle about a well-known conspiracy theories that Jews use human blood in our religious rituals.
14) Whitson visited Libya under Gaddafi in 2009, praising his âTripoli Springâ and support for âdiscussion and debateâ. Two years later, during the Arab Spring, Gaddafi and his family had their troops open fire on protestors calling for human rights.
15) Whitson heavily criticizes Israeli âsettlersâ all the time, and those who work with them. She supports boycotting them, in fact. At the same time, she donates to Armenian charities promoting settlements in Nagorno-Karabakh, and promotes products from settlements there.
16) @hrw hired a research assistant who praised a terrorist leader who helped organize attacks on civilians, after Israel killed him. The researcher wrote: âdo not quench our thirst in the search for the question of the Martyrâ.
17) @hrw hired a consultant on Israel and East Jerusalem who was fired by the UN for extreme bias, and who also tweeted out a photo he claimed was a girl murdered by an Israeli air strike in 2012. It was fake. The girl had been injured in a car accident 6 years earlier.
This is the org that wants you to believe they are telling the truth about Israel. An org whose founder said it was biased, whose leaders admit and demonstrate that bias, and whose lies are too many to count.
@hrwâs report is going to be a sham, just like the organization is.

Bonus: this is the guy who was writing the reports on Israel for @hrw for years. Credit to @AnneHerzberg14 of course. https://twitter.com/anneherzberg14/status/1386381527555219457">https://twitter.com/anneherzb...
