Russell Westbrook’s historic 2016-17 MVP season (a thread)
2017 Westbrook’s season is one of the greatest seasons of all time, and he carried his team to the 6th seed despite not even having a clear second option
He averaged 32 points, 10 assists, and 11 rebounds standing at 6’3 in 35 minutes per game. He played 81 out of the 82 games that season. He was a positive defender and this is one of Russ’s better three point shooting seasons of his career
He led the league in PER, points per game, total points, FGA & FGM, AST%, USG%, OBPM, BPM, VORP, and broke the all time record for most triple doubles in a season with 42
He made the All Star game and scored 41 points, 7 assists, and 5 rebounds in 63, 54, 100 shooting splits. All of that in less than 20 minutes
In the playoffs he averaged 37, 11, and 11 on bad shooting splits, eventually loosing to a superior team in 5 games.
He gave us one of the best game winners of all time, finishing the game with 50 points, 16 rebounds, and 10 assists. He also eliminated the Nuggets from entering the playoffs
This is the most disrespected MVP season I’ve ever seen, from this season, he normalized the “imposible” (triple-doubles)
How’s he doing, you may ask? Well, he’s casually averaging a triple double for the 4th time in 5 years!
