This past week has been emotionally burdensome. There’s a disconnect between my home in the US - where we’re hopeful, and may be turning a corner with #COVID d/t vaccinations, and my home in India - where the current state of the pandemic is simply heartbreaking. On the personal front, I’m really worried about loved ones. Everyone I’ve reached out to has at least one other sick member in their household. Both my grandparents contracted COVID as they awaited the second dose of their vaccine. (They’re doing better now) (2/4)
Professionally, as a physician, I’m deeply unsettled by the reports of patients dying at home from hypoxia as they await medical care. I cant begin to imagine the toll this is taking on families and the mental health burden it will bring down the line (3/4)
While we await large scale help from nations -what are things that we can do to help #medtwitter? Do you know of organizations on the ground that we may help support? Are there avenues for us to volunteer our time (?Televisits) for pts getting outpatient care?
