Sugar is a drug. But we now have more nuanced delivery mechanisms that assuage our knowledge of this fact.
Instead of corn syrup, we have raw honey or coconut sugar. Instead of a peach pop tart, we have apricot basil puff pastry.
Today’s delivery mechanisms make those past look brutish, crude. Coca Cola was water, sugar, cocaine, and acerbic flavorings to offset the taste of the cocoa leaf alkaloid. Coca Cola company has replaced the cocaine with caffeine— but that’s not enough nuance.
As marijuana gains further legal and cultural acceptance, we will probably see products increasingly focused on modality and adjacent health benefit rather than the true, carnal impetus— the need for cognitive escape.
Vape pens today are like Coca Cola in 1900– crude, albeit trailblazing, progenitors to future delivery mechanisms.

But first, I’ll need confirmation that my weed meets non-gmo, organic, cruelty-free, and fair trade standards...
And that it sports a complex, balanced cannabinoid profile that is scientifically tailored to the flavor of escape that I seek
Oh yeah, just like they did in the Paleolithic era
