So, on my way back from MO, I had an encounter with the Police of Somerset, WV. I was driving at night and I went off to get some fresh air bc I had been driving since 530 in the morning. Wrong turn. I was by a cemetery and thought I could back up and get back on the main road. Unfortunately that didn’t happen. My car started going down a hill and I tried to turn around and go back up, but I was stuck in the mud. I had these two Great Danes in the car. 2/

It was pitch black, there were two houses on either side and I started getting really scared. It’s WV and I immediately went to Jeepers Creepers. I thought that bc I went off on the wrong road, this was how my life would end. I was straight up catastrophizing. I didn’t know /3

What to do so I called 911 for the first time in all of my 45 years. I talked to the young man on dispatch and told him I was stuck and didn’t know what street I was on. He located my position so quickly. (I honestly didn’t know they could do this so fast)/4

He said he’d send out patrol. Now, after all that has been going on, I was not only afraid of Police, I’m in this small town, in WV and it’s dark dark dark. My mind was racing. Rogue started liking my face bc he knew I was scared/5

In literally less than 2 minutes, 2 police cars drove up. Had their flashlights. I told them I was from around here. I also said I have 2 Great Danes in my car. At this point, rogue is going crazy. There is a strange man approaching the car/6

I tell the PO who had a beard, abt 6’4 and huge that my dog is friendly but he’s protective and it’s at night. He needs to smell him. He wasn’t scared. The other cruiser stopped. Large guy bigger than the first. /7

Now, I have jeepers kreepers in my head and I’m not big like them. They came down. At this point, I had taken Rogue out. They got familiar with him and then asked if my car had 4 wheel drive. I said yes but I don’t know anything abt it. I told him a friend had engaged it/8

During the winter, but I don’t know anything abt it. Nothing. I said, I honestly don’t know anything abt my car. They both laughed. The first got in the front seat. He was loving on Bentley. He engaged it. The other one checked and then they told me to try. /9

I got in and they held the back door open for Rogue to get back in. I tapped the gas gentle and it got out of the mud. I got out of the car and thanked them profusely. I said you guys helped me so much. Thank you. We talked a little abt what is going on with police/10

They had a lot to say, and even said they had never used their weapons before in all their time. We talked abt de escalation. After, I followed the first guy to the turnpike and thanked him again /11

I tell you all this, bc I really wish all police officers did this. There was no fear I had with these two big dudes. They treated me kindly. This Black Woman in The back woods of WV. They didn’t do anything bad to me and I felt safe. I really wish this could be repeated /12

Everywhere. They were professionals and I just want to give a shout out to the 2 police officers who helped a Black Woman in the pitch Black around 4am in Somerset WV. You were professional and I appreciate you both. /END
