hey all,
(a thread)
let's talk a bit how white people view Black people experiencing trauma or mental health issues. has trauma ever made you, distrust ppl? act in a way that doesn't reflect who you are? has trauma made you reactive or quick to be defensive? (1/?)

have you ever had so much going on in your head that how you act doesn't match up but you don't have the words to explain it so you end up acting in a way that makes you feel guilty? but someone attacking you for it makes you shut down instead? (2/??)
what about your triggers? how do your triggers make you feel? do you have a hard time dealing with trauma?
ok, so then why does it seem like people are incapable of understanding that Black people are going to have these same feelings? why is Black mental health different? (3/?)

the privilege and power white ppl have regardless of how they are marginalized- is to not be a piece of shit to Black people. you KNOW that the state does not want us to unite, to care for each other, to lift each other up. no, we won't all get along but (4/?)
to be ACTIVELY harming and pushing out Black ppl for the sake of your own comfort? inexcusable. it is not your place as a white person, to tell a Black person how to cope with their trauma and as a white person, if you claim to be anti-racist, anti-capitalist etc... (5/?)
you're tearing down the wrong things. Black people going through trauma is not a personal attack on your identity. it's part of your white privilege to hold space, and work on yourself so you can be a person that Black ppl can trust without being scared of retaliation (6/?)!
mental health is already a struggle in Black communities. a lot of Black youth and Black folks in general grow up with their parents not believing in mental illness or neurodiversity. it's not helping anyone to criticize, shame or bully Black ppl for not "acting accordingly"(7/?)
stop hurting Black people without taking their mental well being into consideration. think before you name drop or start some shit online. with the amount of deaths happening? really? we're here together through this, please stop this.

i see a whole lot of room, space and understanding for other people to grow and be forgiven in this movement because, "they're going through so much" and "they work so hard" but Black ppl are immediately demonized as scary or angry. that's racist. cut it out.
