I am now seeing artists being bullied online who are trying to support their livelihood by selling their own work as NFTs.

Those ones engaging in this bullying are exhibiting absolutely repulsive human behavior and should be ashamed of themselves, for multiple reasons.
#1 - the environment impact argument is fundamental misunderstanding of the tech. NFTs simply piggyback on an already existing blockchain. There is barely any additional waste created by adding a new transaction, the power use happens regardless. https://medium.com/superrare/no-cryptoartists-arent-harming-the-planet-43182f72fc61
#2 - It’s a disingenuous and hypocritical argument. Living in a first world country means you engage in extraordinarily wasteful activities constantly.

Netflix. Google. Twitter. Everything. They all use lots of power. Unless you live off the grid, you have no moral high ground.
#3 - Bullying artists is disgusting. NFTs are a nice and new way for artists to be compensated for work that is chronically stolen and misused on many platforms. It is changing the lives of artists in a good way. To stomp on this due to misinformation and hypocrisy is repulsive.
I recommend keyboard warriors educate themselves, and stop pushing hypocritical stances because deep down they don’t want to see artists compensated for work.

Mining gold is wasteful. Banking is wasteful. Making ignorant tweets is wasteful.

Let artists make a living in peace.
