About Donny, I get that he does not start over Bruno, because he is no deputy for him even though he does a job deputising for him. The way Pogba is effective around the left side just outside the opposition's box, I reckon Donny could do the same on the flanks for us.
Going off the insistence that 4-2-3-1 is the way Ole wants to set up, I honestly feel there were many instances that Donny could have EASILY started over James, two particular instances come to mind, Leicester 2-2 and today against Leeds.
James holds width and stretches play but his overall quality has just been a proper letdown and it really has been super frustrating. And when you nullify his pace he becomes a passenger at best and a liability most of the time.
Donny in tight spaces just gets himself out of trouble so effectively and even McFred have more space to work with which exponentially increases their likelihood of not adhering to their absolute love with sideways passing.
Bruno starting constantly is no excuse for why Donny is not getting football, I think a big gripe I have with Ole this season is that there are clear ways and a need to change things up and he refuses to do so.
A lot of defenders of McFred say their work rate is important and I agree with them big time on that, that energy came in handy today and it can be really effective. But I'd argue that work rate does not drop significantly with Donny, and he adds quality with that.
So why the hell are we not seeing more of him, he enhances the players around him and the overall work rate does not fall below par. It's really really disappointing.
McFred must have something on Ole because I am no footballing expert but I can clearly see that trying the same things over and over again is the clear definition of insanity.
You say you want 3 points out of the mountains of 0-0s that we have had but we have done the same things over and over again in all of those games, McDonalds' midfield and late subs, why man why.....
Love Ole, and he's made me enjoy football again, but this practice of his gtg.
