Yes, yes, I know many Western youths have chosen to attempt to redefine "communist" as "someone who supports communism in the Marxian sense", i.e. a classless stateless society, but irl for a century "communist" in casual parlance has meant "member of a Leninist party."

That is incidentally what it means in this context too, and while I for one don't think Susan Michie being a CPB member matters, their beliefs about the world are still essentially "the Soviet Union was a good idea" and people are entitled to not like that.

It's certainly very weird to pretend that most people who call themselves simply "communists" don't mean they are in favour of a violent takeover of government by a vanguard party that will somehow wisely guide us to socialism and then the state will wither away, because they do.

That is what most people who call themselves by that word mean. Those are demographic facts.

Feel free to continue trying to redefine this, you might succeed, but don't be shocked you are faced with skepticism from the normies.
