this week in class I've learned that Intel worked with Stephen Hawking and provided him a constantly up to date speech device and replaced it every 2 years for him. I think this is cool, seriously. and the tech behind it? I'd love to learn more. but here's the glaring question...
how the HELL do we open up this door for everyone else? it pisses me off that one person gets this opportunity but why not everyone else? instead they have to jump thru insurance hoops for the bare fucking minimum.
like I keep thinking about this new Apple Watch that's supposed to come out right? apparently it will provide a non invasive way to track blood sugar. as a type 2 diabetic I am STOKED. but the latest series, series 6, IS $399 AND THAT'S THE LOWEST COST.
yeah sure you can get that shit refurbished but do you think insurance is going to cover an Apple Watch for track your glucose???? no, they're not. ultimately meaning you gotta stick (no pun intended) to an invasive glucometer.
this thread is probably pointless but all I'm thinking about is how that watch could remediate my anxiety of sticking myself constantly and help me keep my diabetes in check. I was doing great but now my A1C is out the ass (not really but it's higher than normal) ......
sure you'd have to test the accuracy, I'm sure the invasive route is better in this department but it would save SO MUCH TIME for people. but it's going to cost an ARM AND LEG. this shit is not ACCESSIBLE.
end rant for now. I gotta go write another discussion for class.
