You know what, I always post this but I've never known what it meant. @rogue_taeminbot suggested Odin giving up his eye in order to achieve higher perception and wisdom, which honestly, kind of works out:

This follow up on IDEA which is also about achieving a higher perception of the self--- to reach his ideal identity outside of judgement he first has to get rid of IDEA (his Messiah/killing him). But parting from IDEA being about Plato's theory of forms, we see that him losing an

eye in exchange of a higher perception instead of giving him wisdom gave him a distorted view of reality (he could only observe himself and others in shapes and forms, and was struggling to build his own self despite acquiring this knowledge).

This kind of ties back up with IDEA finishing with "On the night I cut you out from my heart I finally open my eyes" and now I want to die.
