Diamond no Ace: Baseball anime with brillllliant focus on technical development (its even better than haikyuu at this) and intense emotional games.
Free!: a bit more slice of life and emotionally driven but VERY interesting. Intense homoerotic vibes also.

Chihayafuru: part romance/slice of life anime part Karuta (a card game that isn& #39;t so much about playing cards as having incredible reflexes and hearing) anime. The romance parts are good but the Karuta parts are ELITE.

Yuri On Ice: GORGEOUSLY ANIMATED figure skating anime. Great "rising up after a fall" narrative. incredibly endearing characters. GAY AF
Hajime no Ippo: boxing anime w great technical dev & some of the most interesting battle sequences in all of anime. Boxing is complicated???
