I get it.
Some miss their normal.
Their faith is tethered to LED screens, lights, & live music.
But COVID still threatens & kills. As I tweet, the Gospel music world mourns the death of a great musician.
Yet we are being encouraged to leave churches that remain prudent. (1/5)
I was in Atlanta to record services to be aired online. There was a Braves game happening that day. Thousands of people. But only hundreds of masks. Those same people will be in somebody’s church maskless. That’s not faith. It’s denial. It’s selfishness. Pride. (2/5)
We will eventually reintegrate fully. But the “heart & trust damage” that will have to be repaired in the hearts & minds of people of color because of the blatant & consistent arrogance of some of our white brothers & sisters is incalculable. (3/5)
As if the pandemic isn’t bad enough, many have exhibited a selfishness that says “it can’t be real [or it can’t be that bad] because IT HASN’T HAPPENED TO ME.” I must confess, I often ask the Lord to chasten their pride with suffering. But He’s GOD. He’s incredibly patient.(4/5)
To all the people, Pastors, parents, & partners who have been cautious out of concern for those you love, be encouraged. Be intentional about seeking the heart of GOD for your next move. But don’t be shamed into taking risks. May the Lord guide you in your faith. (5/5)
