With the Oscars happening tonight, it felt like the perfect time for another list blog. This time a they were robbed list, of the Top 10 movies that should’ve won Best Picture, but clearly the powers at be were stupid and went for another option.
Unfortunately this isn’t consigned to the past only recently La La Land was robbed, it did however five us that Ryan Gosling laughing meme, so it wasn’t a total loss but still I heart La La Land with all my heart.

Right now we’ve got that put of the way on with the list!
10:  Saving Private Ryan (1999)
I mean what can I say? Not sure what happened in 1999 maybe it was the Y2K fear or the millennium bug come early? Who knows all we can say is it will never be forgotten or forgiven.  A bit like Gwyneth’s acceptance speech.

9: A Passage to India (1985)
I know we all love a bit of Mozart and Austria in a movie or Austria in real life, but come on a Passage To India was a classic the minute it was made.

8: The Colour Purple (1986)
I have 2 words Whoopie and Oprah… if those two in a movie about standing up to abusers doesn’t get you an Oscar, then I don’t know what will.

7: Babe (1996)
It’s a talking Pig for christ sakes! I love a bit of Mel Gibson and I’m all up for dramatic Scottish speeches but a talking Pig herding sheep in the English countryside. Given it was the 90’s it should’ve won for originality and the animation it took to do that.
6: Little Miss Sunshine (2007)
Actually speechless on this one. I adore Little Miss Sunshine it’s such a great movie and sheds a different light on a lot of areas.

5: Erin Brockovich (2001)
Yes it was the early 2000s, actually that’s crap society hasn’t come on that far… I’m just going to say it like it is. If Erin Brockovich had been Ed Brockovich this movie would’ve won! At least they gave her the Best Actress Award
How 'bout this for a number? Six. That's how old my other daughter is, eight is the age of my son, two is how many times I've been married - and divorced; sixteen is the number of dollars I have in my bank account. 850-3943.
That's my phone number, and with all the numbers I gave you, I'm guessing zero is the number of times you're gonna call it.

4: ET (1983)
There was an alien who made friends with little kids and phoned home? What more do you want from a movie? Someone tell me.

3:  Moulin Rouge (2002)
Blimey 2002 was a year wasn’t it!
Moulin Rouge is brilliant and was brilliant for the time, it was a real throwback in a way to the musicals of the Classical Hollywood era, with the lighting, colours, effects, filming techniques and the tragic love story. Makes for a far better film than Beautiful Mind.
2: Gosford Park (2002)
Gosford Park was the pre-courser to Downton Abbey one of the most successful TV shows of the decade. I know no one could’ve predicted that but still it’s not often the subject of movies, this whole upstairs, downstairs society that went on in the pre-WWII English society.
It’s a who done it as well, no one EVER makes who done its anymore or even then.

1: Four Weddings and a Funeral (1995)
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, yes Forrest Gump is a great film but Four Weddings is brilliant and original there’s nothing been like it before or since.
It introduced us to Richard Curtis and Hugh Grant we already knew Tom Hanks, he already had an Oscar it’s time to le Grant have his time in the sun!
