The Donny Van De Beek Situation at Manchester United and why cant he start for the #mufc

First of all lets look the formations we play is a 4-2-3-1 with a pivot of Pogba and Fred/McT/Matic. Rashford and Greenwood/James as wingers and Cavani/Martial/Greenwood as strikers and Bruno at CAM. Here, VDB can only play in the Pivot or the CAM role instead of Bruno or Pogba.

And shifting to a diamond is risky as we saw most of the times, our win % with the diamond is very low

So that being said he cant replace Pogba or Bruno, as they are essential to the team.

Now people want him to play on the wing, where we have Rashford/James/Amad who are natural wingers and Greenwood as well. Playing him on the wing, doesn’t suit us as he isn’t a natural winger and we have such wingers.

People who want him to start in the pivot need to realise that Pogba is a starter. He cant be benched. Pogba will be shifted to the left wing and Rashford to the right which will make these players out of their favoured postions only to accommodate a single player.

And ofc at CAM, Bruno should be starting, no questions asked

And the game where all Bruno, Pogba and VDB started vs Everton now. He started on the left instead of Rashford. Maybe Rashford needs to rest, but he is too essential to be dropped.

And again we cant drop natural wingers to accomodate someone.

Overall, He should have played a few games more but if Pogba and Bruno stay the next season, this situation will not get any better.

Giving Pogba a new contract might be best but then that would make the transfer of VDB questionable as he is too good to be on the bench.

We should sell Pogba as he has said through his agent that he wants to play for some better teams and also that to compete for UCL's and trophies. More importantly , the fact that the board cant buy a proper DM to accomodate him into the pivot so he can play at his best.

All of this for VDB to properly be adjusted into the team.

And also if we start VDB and Fred in a pivot vs a big team idk what will happen but since we havent done this ever before I think so he can because his tackling and interceptions are class.
