5 Ways to manage decision fatigue.

Thread 🧵 🪡
Decision fatigue refers to the deteriorating quality of decisions made by an individual after a lengthy decision-making session.
There are two types of decisions:

High-level: Decisions that have a direct impact on your health, wealth, or life.

Low-level: Opposite of high-level. No direct impact.
The idea is to automate, pre-plan, or eradicate low-level decisions.

Five ways to do that:
1/ Plan your clothes

Our mental energy is at its peak in the morning. We must conserve this energy.

Spending it in deciding your outfit for the day is stupid unless you're a Fashion Influencer.

Plan your outfit for the week, and stack them accordingly in your wardrobe.
2/ Plan your meals

What to eat is another low-level decision you should avoid.

If you take 3 meals a day, that's 21 decisions weekly, 84 monthly, and 1008 yearly.

Like, outfits, plan your meals too.

It has an added benefit— you can avoid/limit junk and unhealthy foods.
3/ Plan your day

Nothing is more damaging than an unclear directive on spending your day and what to work on.

Plan your day— high priority, high impact tasks first thing in the morning.

It will drastically improve your productivity.
4/ Allotted time for 'No-Decision'

Dedicate an hour or two every day as a No-Decision slot.

Neither low-level nor high-level.

Align this with the understanding of our mental energy, and you'll know all the high-level decisions are to be made in the morning only.
5/ Minimize your choices

It might seem counterproductive, but it is not.

Having lots of choices impairs our decision-making skills.

Choice overload is cognitive impairment.

Fewer Choices = Better Decisions = High Satisfaction.
