I have, over the past few months, become super conscious about the fact that I seek validation externally, and I think I am slightly shameless about the fact that I do. Because simply for the fact that... it makes me feel good, and helps me do things better.
I think this worries the people around me (and my therapist lol), that I actively and consciously bid for validation.

And the fact that external bidding may be slightly performative probably rubs people the wrong way. In that validation is obtained through means of "acting", and not through "substantial effort" or "quality of virtue",
