Headline's all warm and they went ahead with transphobic jokes with blatant examples of deadnaming in the article, ffs. "We care about trans people, so we are reaching out to them so they can get healthcare... As their real biological sex with their legal names at birth."

The initiative reduces trans trauma into a simplistic shame and invalidates trans identities. It doesn't acknowledge the structural oppression, the years of abuse, the suicide rates etc because of one's existence being framed as a curse. This is not trans-friendliness.

And the comments, my god. "Trans people don't deserve that!" We live in a country where most people think trans people deserve to be hate-crimed because having the state force us into cis identities with strange hobbies is too decent. "Personal shame" isn't the main issue here.
