At a time when big franchises are home to both film and television, the Lionsgate company does not want to be relegated. This week, news comes about a possible series based on the Saw franchise , which so far boasts nine part films but no projects for the small screen.
Is this about to change?
In a recent interview with Deadline ( https://deadline.com/2021/04/lionsgate-television-strategy-john-wick-saw-american-psycho-series-kevin-beggs-interview-1234718117/) , Kevin Beggs (president of Lionsgate Television) acknowledged that there is "a conversation" around producing projects for the small screen based on film brands like Saw.

According to Beggs, of that strategy they emerged "great contributions" that allowed producing the TV series Dear White People (based on the eponymous film of 2014) that is currently developing a show inspired by the film acclaimed Blindspotting , which lead the Mexican Carlos…
…López Estrada. He even noted that a serial reinvention of American Psycho is in development.
In this regard, Deadline reports that indeed "Lionsgate TV is in early talks about a television series adaptation of Saw's book . " Accroding to the media outlet, Twisted Television would be involved in the planning.
And honestly, what better time to build a show around ghoulish games than the malevolent Saw.
Next month the movie Spiral: From the Book of Saw will hit theaters , directed by Darren Lynn Bousman and starring Chris Rock, , with the only Samuel L. Jackson also in the cast.
