“It’s not even about the beds. The reality is we need trained staff in order to staff those beds.”

Alberta, let me tell you what happens when your health care system is about to collapse. https://twitter.com/calgaryherald/status/1386088721930506243
My dad is going on a ventilator at Sunnybrook Hospital as I write this and got the Anointing of the Sick (Last Rites) by the hospital chaplain.

He is not obese, does not have diabetes or cancer, is not vitamin deficient, exercises regularly, is not a senior or immunocompromised. https://twitter.com/macleans/status/1385073979082301440
His major symptoms were fatigue, fever, coughing and aching joints. That changed last Friday evening with dehydration and breathing problems.

EMS took him to a packed COVID-19 unit. He stayed long enough to be stabilized, was given a steroid for breathing and sent home.
A bed is not just a bed. It includes other factors like qualified staffing, equipment, ventilators and medications.

You can’t take a nurse from a different department or the Canadian Forces if they have no ICU qualifications and make them an ICU nurse.
Never forget how entire communities were treated throughout this crisis. https://twitter.com/fatimabsyed/status/1386097245586608130
If there is any justice, every leader that allowed things to get this bad will spend the rest of their lives tormented by the people who died because of their leadership. https://twitter.com/edmontonjournal/status/1385659880414003212
Start treating people yelling “bUT iT’s jUSt tHE fLu” like the idiots they are.

These people are as stupid and delusional as Flat Earthers. https://twitter.com/grantrants/status/1381983321182339074
To the people arguing “let people decide for themselves and take the risk,” you don’t have the right to potentially infect others and put their families through this, you selfish fucks. https://twitter.com/ctv_avisfavaro/status/1385279022926544896
To clarify, I don’t blame individual provinces for our COVID-19 situation. I blame every single level of government in this country. https://twitter.com/vincemcdermott/status/1386179498291318788
I’m muting this thread, but I thank you all for the thoughts and kind words.

Don’t forget I’m one of countless families going through this.

Right now, all nine ICU beds in Fort McMurray have COVID-19 patients. Hospitalizations are rising.
