In Puranas, Patal Lok has been described as the central part of the Nagalok.There are seven types of Patal Lok. The depth of each Patal is 70 yojan.
Atal: The son of the Maya demon, Asurraj Bal resides in Atal Lok. He is very Powerful and He has created ninety-six types of Maya.
Vital: In Vital Lok, Bhagwan Hatkeshwar Mahadev lives with his Bhootgann. He continue to worship with Maa Bhavani for the growth of World. Beautiful river named Haat also flows there.
Sutal: Below the Vital there is Sutal lok. By the Agya of Bhagwan Vaman, King Bali resides in Sutal Lok and he will rule there till the end of Kali Yug.
Talatal: In the bottom of Sutal lok there is a Talatal Lok. Danavaraj Maya lives in Talatal Lok. Mayadanav is the supreme master of all types of Maya.
Mahatal: 'Krodhvash' Community of serpents living in Mahatal Lok. Krodhvash Serpents are the sons of Kadru, wife of Kashyap Rishi. Kahuk, Takshak, Kalia and Sushen are the chief Serpents among them.
Rasatal: Nivatakavacha, Kaleya and Hiranyapurvasi communities of Monsters living in the Rasatal Lok. These demons always keep fighting with the Devtas.
Patal: Patal Lok is the last lok. Big angry serpents like Shand, Kulik, Mahashand, Shwet, Dhananjaya, Dhritarashtra, Shankhchud, Kambal, Akshatar and Devadatt living in Patal Lok.
Among them, some have 5, 7,10, and 100 heads and very few have 1000 heads.Vasuki is the chief among them.The glittering Manis of their forests destroy all the darkness of the Patal Lok.
