#Perspectives

Off late, I wish to restrict my time on Social Media. The amount of vile and negativity is just too much. I can certainly do with less of this

Yesterday's events brought up an old debate back to forefront. Hence, I wish to write my perspectives about the same

1/
The event of consideration is the refusal of US to supply the requisite raw material and the whole debate on NRIs not raising voices.

NRI are an integral part of our societal fabric & do play a critical role in the modern society.

2/
More often than not, they are flag-bearers of our culture, values in far off land. Having traveled overseas quite often, I can imagine the pressure at times, specially when someone near and dear is not unwell back home in India.

Everyone has their own trials & tribulations

3/
Having said that, let's examine who is an NRI. A person who wishes for a better professional opportunity, for a better life for his family and moves to a different geographical location.

The point to note is this is a conscious personal choice which a person / family takes

4/
They said $$$ back home, some decide to become permanent residents, some come back after a few years. It's purely a personal decision.

Why am I saying this? Because there are certain sections who think we owe to them for being diaspora.

5/
My point of difference starts here. Why should Indians owe anything to anyone who takes a personal decision?

I am not advocating that we shouldn't support diaspora in formal or other forums. However, to expect that we owe it to them is little too far fetching.

6/
Now the 2nd part of argument.

Who condemn NRIs are frustrated souls who couldn't go outside or who would lap up the opportunity?

Basically everyone is painted as a frustrated hypocrite as if one can't have brains if they are in India

7/
Let me clarify. There is a section of people who have CONSCIOUSLY stayed back in INDIA believing in that country.

They also stayed back to take care of their families and work for solutions at ground level for the issues faced by them during their childhood

8/
Maybe a minority.. but this does exist. Some do believe in creating employment and helping the local ecosystem.

It is NOT due to dearth of opportunities. Many have rejected the offer to move. I am speaking with personal experience.

9/
Again, this is a Personal choice. Everyone makes choices and they tread the path laid out by the same.

However, to call the critics as frustrated hypocrites or suggesting them to try their taste buds at god-forsaken places purely tasteless & may i say devoid of rationality

10/
To conclude, in a box of apples, you will have some rotten ones. To blame or paint the entire box as rotten is incorrect.

At the same time, no one has a moral high-ground to pontificate or adjudge anyone. Everyone is dictated by their own PERSONAL CHOICES

11/
My intention is to clarify and hopefully rationalize the discussion. Constructive comments always welcome in this thread.

Pls avoid name calling / extreme hatred. Lets fight this pandemic together.
