#Comics (A thread)

To say that comics have always been political is 100% true. Because they always have been.
Superheroes were used to support the war efforts, to say the least. Many superheroes have met the then current President in the pages of a comic.

To say that comics have always been talking about social issues is 100% true. Because they always have been. They’ve always been reflective of the time in which they were created, as all art is.

/2
The only reason there is a Batwoman is because folks were always whispering that Batman was gay for Robin, and they wanted to dispel that by giving Batman a female love interest.
And another example is how Roy Harper ended up being a substance abuser.

/3
Only reason there was a Comics Code(1954) was because many sectors of society claimed that comics were a bad influence on youth. The pivotal doctrine of the Seduction of the Innocent was introduced. Because pearl clutchers will always strive to keep real life away from print.

/4
But what is DIFFERENT—which why I know arguments to the contrary are disingenuous—is that there was no social media influence like there is now. Social influence was always there, but not like it is now. Because Virtue Signaling is the order of the day.

/5
We want to LOOK like we care about diverse groups of people and being inclusive.

What has emerged however is the sheer hatred of the traditional interpretation of beloved characters, and the despising, vitriolic contempt felt by creators for fans.

/6
They have effectively pushed away those that have supported them for decades in an attempt to APPEAR virtuous, to woo Twitter Crowds made up of people that never read comics anyway. Those SAME people want nothing more than to infect all comics properties and destroy them.

/7
What THEY don’t understand is that the only thing that stands the test of time is truth. And the REEEEing harpies will eventually go the way of all fads, because EVERY word out of THEIR mouths is a lie.

So the faithful have to do what the faithful always do:

Wait.
