I've seen some people say that shooting action HK style is so expensive that's why Hollywood studios don't do it and use the traditional master/close up way of shooting. I assure you it's not budget. Isaac Florentine never uses masters, instead opting for the
HK style where shots are planned ahead of time, sometimes pre viz, sometimes not (Isaac rarely uses previz, Gareth Evans swears by it) but either way, the focus is on shooting what you need for the fight, not a bunch of coverage and then finding it in the edit
And doing it that way Isaac made at least 3 all timers for the cost of a Hollywood catering budget. Ninja 2 alone should be proof shooting that way is the way to go. It's not a question of budget, it's a question of knowledge
Fights definitely can be found in the edit and editing is still essential to making them work, but relying on a master to cover you far more often leads to choppy fights with no rhythm
For more on how Isaac shoots action I can't recommend @TheMikeFury's Life of Action books highly enough. Both volumes are action film school and mean the world to me.
Also if you aren't watching @TheScottAdkins Art of Action on You Tube you are missing the best film school in the world right now. Get Mike's books and watch Scott's videos and you'll absolutely see why can't edited action is unacceptable to us
