why do UC diaspora have to center themselves in everything. if you aren’t talking about how caste oppressed people are suffering the most due to India’s COVID response, or aren’t actively organizing to support those in need, please don’t open your mouth
also those in the diaspora are not angry enough at the Indian govt for me. yes US imperialism is definitely to blame, and we can’t downplay that. but let’s talk about how most of our families back in India vote for neoliberal fascist parties that caused this crisis
anyways if you’re savarna you should be redistributing your wealth. I’m going to be collecting donations for the Ambedkar Association of North America which is providing relief to caste-oppressed families - Venmo me at @/VinitShah99, I’ll send a receipt of the final donation!
also if you belong to a caste-oppressed group in India, or are in the diaspora but have family in India that are caste-oppressed, and are in need of COVID-19 relief funds, drop your Venmos below!
* want to clarify that I’m not trying to invalidate the pain of UC folks affected by COVID. but we UC folk need to realize that we take up so much space in the media narrative about India’s COVID-19 crisis, when caste-oppressed people have been calling for help for months
while not all Indian Americans have wealthy families back home, most of our families have access to healthcare, can financially withstand the loss of a loved one, and receive respectable funeral services (and other privileges). this is not the case for caste-oppressed people
