Thread of my favorite takeaways from Jerry Wanek's Zoom Q&A!
• He could not have been clearer as to the fact that every detail is meant & done meticulously (duh). Stuff isn't accidental. He talked about how MANY people are involved–experts in various crafts–a LOT.

• Part of that: talking about–with examples–how sets are created so that a director can have a 360º opportunity for a shot. It's a complete environment so things can be shot from any angle & it will work.
• He liked "putting things in the set that the real fans can pick up."

• ALL the details of a room need to be cohesive. "...I don’t care what you’re doing, but it’s gotta make sense in the context of whatever set you’re on. You can’t just throw a spaceship in the middle of a barn & be like, wow did you see the spaceship? It doesn’t work that way.”
• Original 15x20 ending details, featuring dead Kansas in Harvelle's, & notably: Sam & Dean were not supposed to meet on the bridge. Sam was going to go into the bar & meet Dean in there. "Everybody that died basically was in Heaven," with Dean in the Roadhouse when Sam arrived.
• About the MoL bunker: "That was Jensen's baby. Jensen loved that set" & Jensen had said "we finally found a home." There were talks about having Lucifer or someone else destroy the bunker at various times, & Jensen was adamantly against it. He'd say, "Nope. Find another way."
• Talking about the book: "Every one of those images on the front cover is a separate book." Jerry would make these after every season but wasn't allowed to sell them. So the cover of this one depicts the covers of previous ones.
(This means s15's cover was Swayze's. I'm feral.)

• He talked a lot about different motel rooms, & how he insisted they not all be the same. While you wanted to get a sense that they're all motels across the country / Americana vibes, they had touches of various cities/locations. LOTS of wallpaper & art choices to convey that.
• They typically had about 8-10, sometimes 12 days between getting a script & having to have a set ready.
• They would scour the Internet & thrift stores to look for items to use across the board, especially for the sake of needing variety (like for LAMPS. Lmao)

Oh: also, his straw matched his shirt. He made a point of making sure everyone knew that.
That's all I've got from notes / off the top of my memory, but the recording will be posted online by different individuals. LOVE THAT DUDE. If I remember other details I'll add them here.

Predictably, just remembered something else:
• Someone wanted the bunker pieces/set, in order to turn it into a museum, and “the network” said no
haha... ha...

Oh okay so it's "fuck the museum" and ALSO "fuck the network for not saving the bunker somehow anyway."

Speaking of the bunker, since everyone is emo over that (and rightfully so): Jerry himself couldn't / didn't watch them tear it down. Would've been too upsetting for him to see.
