I'm happy to talk about what I like about it any time!

Thread?

I started playing it last year for a wonderful stream with @SharangBiswas @_Boganova_ @therealjimdavis and run by @SusanahGrace

So I'm still a noob. It's one of my favorite fantasy #ttrpgs all the same https://twitter.com/LetsWorldbuild/status/1386099625543839745
1) I like the lore I've played in and read.

I know it's weird to say for someone running a ttrpg business, but I am not an unconditional fantasy fan; I think too much fantasy lit/lore is, uh, disconnected nonsense. TDE lore feels like it has depth. It's vast and complex.
2) character creation is point buy, with so much flexibility.

My main character, Ortlieb, is a gifted singer, street smart, good with business, a great listener, and is the world's best cook.

Can barely fight. And yet he's so fun to play in a proper fantasy adventure
3) there's a stat for everything about your character. When I think about how my character would react to something, I look at my sheet, and I gain actual rp meaning from my mechanics. It's not a combat sim with rp you can do on the side if you wanna.
4) in the same way, there is a rule for how to resolve anything that happens in the game, and I find that extremely satisfying.

It's all there and there is a rule to find if you want to. There are no half measures, no pillars where the system offers unequal support
5) resolutions happen quickly, which seems ridiculous because you roll 3d20 for every skill roll, but it flows once you get it. it's a much more graceful way to discuss the interplay between attributes and actions than systems where one attribute governs a given skill entirely
6) I like how the books are clearly written by people who have played and run a lot and intend for you to do the same. Little things like really good organization, recs for music or movies to watch to get in the mood, stuff like that. It's refreshing.
I'm not always a fan of rules heavy systems, but I feel like if you're gonna do it, go all the way, and TDE manages to do that and also make a game that is playable right out of the gate, the rules build easily on each other, and that delving deeper into it is rewarding.
I highly recommend it. I had a great time, and I will play it every chance I get. Thank you to @UlissesInt for introducing us to it, it's the bee's knees and more people outside Germany need to know about it!
