The meaning of the letter D.

If there is one mystery that has stood the test of time since chapter 1 of One Piece, it’s the Will of D. and more specifically what the letter D stands for.
In this thread, I will give you my take about the word hidden behind this mysterious letter.
Remember this is only a harmless theory of mine, and in no way should it be treated as the absolute truth; chances that I hit the nail in the head are really low after all.
First, I want to get out of the way the most common takes about the meaning of D. The 3 most common guesses usually are Dawn, Dream, and Destiny. This is fine, however I think any of those 3 would be a little too obvious. IMO, it’s going to be something else.
If you remember chapter 764, Donquixote Rosinante said that the People of D. are the natural enemies of the Gods. If Gods are to be taken as Celestial Dragons, then the Will of D. can be considered as the antithesis of the Will of the Gods.
As such, we can hypothetically designate the CDs with one letter whose full word would have a meaning opposite to that of the D.
In fact, it is by finding that one word that I was able to transition towards the meaning of D.
The trick now is to find a common theme among the different ideas, weapons and buildings held by the Celestial Dragons.
Pacifista (パシフィスタ)
Cyborgs designated by Vegapunk and modeled after Kuma. While not affiliated directly to the CDs but rather to the Marines, both factions are ultimately part of the WG.
Pacifista comes from the word pacifist, pertaining to the lexical field of peace.
Philanthropy (博愛)
The 2 kanji appear in the Room of Authority, they are engraved in what look like medallions similar to the real-world structures in the Hagia Sophia. The kanjis form the word Hakuai, which means “love for humanity”, or in traditional Japanese “philanthropy”.
The word philanthropy can be considered part of the lexical field of unity since it promotes unconditional love for humankind.

(Thanks to @d_n_i_e_l and @sandman_AP for the information about the kanji)
Levely (世界会議)
The Levely or World Council is an event that takes place once every 4 years, where 50 world leaders discuss worldwide-scale events and ultimately make important decisions.
Decision-making and the word council clearly entail the lexical field of agreement.
Socializing Plaza (社交の広場)
A place where the world leaders get some time to cool down before attending Levely.
Obviously the word socializing implies a sense of unity, after all one is not going to socialize that well with people bearing opposing views.
Pangaea Castle (パンゲア城)
A large castle serving as the headquarters of the World Government, where the world leaders meet every 4 years for Levely. It takes inspiration after the Château de Chambord.
Pangaea is a reference to the real-life eponymous ancient super-continent that formed 335 Ma ago, before breaking apart 175 Ma ago. Pangaea literally means all lands, as in all lands united in one, once again referring to unity.
Is there a word that could encompass the themes of unity, peace and agreement into one?
Well, there are 2: Harmony and Concord, which are synonymous.
But only one can fit, and the question is which one is it?
The answer is located directly under Mary Geoise, at Fish-Man Island.
Those 2 places happen to have the same longitude and latitude, only differing in altitude.
Curiously, one of the locations in FI is the Gyoncorde Plaza where Otohime was killed, which is a nod to Concorde Plaza where was executed king Louis XVI on Jan 21st 1793.
Seems like circumstances lean towards the word Concord(e).
Now isn’t there an antonym of Concord that happens to begin with the letter D, in a way that mirrors the CDs’ mortal enmity with the People of D?
Yep, there is, and this word is: Discord(e)!
Now before going further, the word Disharmony would work too but Will of Disharmony doesn’t sound anywhere near as epic as Will of Discord (to my ears anyway).

The definition of Discord can be given as: sense of disharmony, of chaos, of disorder.
In a sense, those with D in their names tend to be unruly and not follow the law of the WG.
Another theme about the People of D is that they have a tendency to “bring forth storms”! Well storms are but the whims of nature, and tend to cause chaos wherever they strike.
In fact, whenever Ds make a big move, the world always ends up in disarray.

Examples:
_Gol D. Roger and Monkey D. Garp teaming up to defeat Rocks D. Xebec;
_Marshall D. Teach defeating Portgas D. Ace, which would trigger the Summit War;
_Monkey D. Luffy and Marshall D. Teach taking the most credits for the Impel Down debacle;
_Jaguar D. Saul dying to protect Nico Robin, the only person left capable of reading Poneglyphs;
_Monkey D. Dragon opposing the World Government and being known as “World’s worst criminal”;
_Teach defeating the Whitebeard Pirates remnants led by Marco, causing him to be recognized as one of the 4 Emperors;
_Trafalgar D. Water Law saving Luffy in Marineford and ultimately escaping aboard the Polar Tang;
_Luffy defeating Doflamingo who held the reins keeping in check the “monsters”;
_Law playing his part in Doflamingo’s defeat;
_Luffy right now taking Kaido head-on;

…And so on.
The point is, whenever some events disturb the illusion of peace cast by the World Government, chances are the People of D. had a hand in it.
In that sense, Discord is a very suitable name to describe those individuals.
TL;DR The Will of D. stands for Will of Discord(e) in my humble opinion.

A Retweet is always appreciated 🙏

Next theory will be about a yet to be seen scary aspect of Conqueror Haki, so stay tuned 😇
