adult-ing | the thread:
a few quotes i live by:
•treat others how you want to be treated
•weapons will form but they will not prosper
•ask and you shall receive
•the universe knows no negative or positive
•the 72 hour rule
1. i believe it’s extremely important to become clear about what you want. you can get all of this advice on life, however, if you aren’t clear about what you want and meet it with action...you won’t get it.
2. i have a notebook for everything. the theme on the front relates to the theme im writing about. writing will be your best friend. you really only need one. get a notebook that is your favorite color and a cute/cool pen. this will naturally increase your desires to write.
3. write about your relationship with self. financial, physical, spiritual goals. the type of friend you want. the type of relationship you want with each family member. places you want to travel. if you want to get married. children. you may write in bullets.
4. don’t forget to date your pages as you write. this is really important for later. now that you have an idea of who you actually want to be: not who society, the internet, or your parents want you to be. you are ready to start improving the different areas of your reality.
5. your eating | food | grocery shopping: buying snacks in bulk. snacks last for about 3 months so you don’t have to worry about it going bad. my first example is variety chips: a box of 28 chips are $10 at walmart vs 50 chips for $12 at sams. comparing prices is your bestfriend.
grocery shopping: create a list before hand. this will allow you to stay with a set budget because you will go in and buy only what you need or you are out of.
6. you can get FREE gift cards by scanning ALL of your receipts.
1. download this app, using my link:
https://fetchrewards.onelink.me/vvv3/referraltext?code=GX21N

2. my code: my referral code "GX21N"

you will get 2k points by using my link + code. put my code in before scanning your first receipt 🧾.
you can get southwest, delta, ultra, visas (cash money) gift cards, and so much more. i like this app above the others because you can actually cash out for as low as $5. you get points for any receipt you scan from anywhere. it makes spending feel like a double win.
MOMMIES and daddies👨‍👩‍👧‍👦: you all earn double on this app from your diaper purchase, food, and any other baby products. i 10/10 recommend. this is not paid promo.
7. housing | renting vs owning: i suggest everyone take 1 year in your twenties alone. in this year, it will allow you to look at your life from a different angle. changing perspectives while adult-ing will be the #1 thing i hope you take away from this thread.
8. renting: i personally wanted to skip renting. however, my financial coach + therapist suggested that i at least try it for a year. guys (and gals)....im happy i did. if you are not a parent + single, it’s very likely that you will not have your forever city picked just yet.
9. you don’t want to buy w/o being 100% certain that’s where you want to be forever. use this time of your life to city hop. compare major cities like htx vs atl. nyc vs la. chi vs mia. even check out rural vs urban vs downtown city life. it will help your final decision.
10. if you aren’t able to commit a year of leasing to each of these cities, save to take week long trip to each of these places to get a better experience of each. after vacationing in each, you might save time by knowing exactly which one you like. stay tune for traveling tips.
11. moving out for the first time? this can be scary, so if you are nervous, that’s normal. start buying a few things at a time like toilet paper 🧻, dish liquid, and other house hold goodies. my favorite store for these things are the dollar tree.
12. dollar tree is the best place to purchase glass for only $1. there are wine glasses, drinking glasses, etc. if you want your space to have more of a modern look + cheap price, i would suggest browsing a few dollar tree in your area because they each carry different products.
13. first time credit build-er 💳 (just made that up lol):
im currently at a 750 credit card. i have been building credit for a year. if you do not have any credit history...here is how to get started.
@BankofAmerica offers a secure credit card. secure meaning, you will be able to give them a minimum of $300 physical cash, and they will give you a credit card with $300. this is how i would suggest building or rebuilding your credit.
credit score tips: if you have a $300 card balance, each month, do not spend over $30. you will need to follow the 10% rule. do not spend a credit card like a debit card. if you do not have $300 in your checking, you do not have it on your credit card (even though you see it).
credit score tip: i would suggest getting a credit card to ONLY build your credit. the trap most people get into is thinking they can use that money as their own. you are technically spending someone else’s money that you will have to pay back.
credit score tip: remember the notebook you purchased at the begin of the thread. pull it out. let’s say you get approved for your secure credit card this month, in your notebook, date it, and write down the months from April to March’22.
credit score tip: download your banking app. April you will spend $30 (10% of your credit balance). May: your first bill will be due. your account will tell you how much is due, normally when you only spend 10%, you won’t have anything due, but here is the trick...
credit score tip: pay $1 to $5 leaving your used credit to $29 or $25. this will increase your score because you are showing activity on your card and showing you are able to make higher payments then what is due, but decreasing your used credit to increase your score.
