The Dirty Dozen will be punished says UEFA President Ceferin in exclusive interview

BUT English clubs will be treated more leniently

Thanks English fans - wants to meet protest leaders

Relationship with PM Johnson now stronger than ever

Ceferin has also made it clear that 2024 Champions League reforms are up for debate

In direct response to Pep + Klopp he said: ‘There can always be less matches but also the salaries of the players and coaches have to adapt’
He gives impression that he’s open to change the 2 extra spots that were going to be based on historic performance rather than top 4 - though ultimately that will be a negotiation with new European Clubs Association....
But now that Dirty Dozen are out of the ECA, that organisation will be much more receptive to champions of Turkey getting the place rather than 5th placed PL club
My take on all this having spoken with Ceferin...

....whilst he’s offering Big 6 something of an olive branch, it’s hard to overestimate how badly they have screwed up....
... my guess is they will lose the 2 places reserved for ‘historic’ clubs who fail to make CL cut, the new coefficient places in the expanded CL from 2024....
...that was the best bit in 2024 reforms for AFC THFC MUFC - who can’t guarantee top 4 - and LFC this season. A safety net that could have been signed off last Monday but now negotiations over those spots are all up for grabs again
Plus Dirty Dozen resigned all their UEFA + European Club Association positions on Monday (oops!) .... that means the talks on all this (and the commercial cut) will now proceed without Big 6. They literally have no voice on future of club football for next 6 years...
That is a result of their monumental stupidity. If most of us had made as massive and costly a mistake as John W Henry, Joel Glazer, Stan Kroenke, Ivan Gazidis and Ed Woodward have, we wouldn’t have jobs to go back to
Ceferin says he’s fine about shortening the number of games in new 36 team CL in response to Pep + Klopp. BUT has to be agreed with clubs. And clubs are asking for more....’we can have fewer games but it will mean less money so salaries will have to be adjusted’
...there will be some scepticism about Ceferin’s wish to meet English fan leaders. It’s useful. But until it means fans are consulted in final venues, ticket allocations change, it will be seen as window dressing. But it is a start.....
