Unpopular opinion #1: If you can't handle seeing The Hanged Man (Death, The Devil, Ten of Swords, etc.) and are too "triggered" to use it in a reading, you really have no business doing divination at all, maybe not even messing with the occult in the first place. https://twitter.com/whodreamedit/status/1385982133647253505
Unpopular opinion #2: Magical practice of any kind is not safe and painless for the practitioner. It's not about making you feel comfy and validated all the time. It's dangerous -- not in the "demons will possess you at the drop of a hat" sense, but rather >
> in the sense of making you understand that things are not necessarily as you've always believed, nor as you'd like them to be. It requires fearless self-examination and growth. It will force you to change or die, so to speak -- if you're not just playing at it, that is.
Unpopular opinion #3: Spirits, deities, and other noncorporeal beings often don't care about what you feel is ethical or correct. You can choose not to deal with them because of that -- and that's fine -- but you can't force them into your narrow ideas of human justice.
Unpopular opinion #4: Having mental health issues does not absolve you of doing the inner work necessary to function as a competent practitioner. In fact, it's crucial. I know this from personal experience.
Unpopular opinion #5 (thanks to @KtObermanns for pointing this out): If you find your practice becomes more than you can handle, there's no shame in setting it aside. Make sure you keep any oaths you've sworn, but don't beat yourself up over it.
Finally: who would win the cage death match?
