For all the folks in the chat at #AntiracistBookfest asking how they can teach Stamped by @JasonReynolds83 and @DrIbram in a community that is resistant...1)Read @BLoveSoulPower book as well, because it gives important advice. 2)Use the censorship toolkit from @ALALibrary
)Research and distribute intellectual freedom statements from @ncte and @ILAToday
)Amplify student voices. Many students want to read these books, but systems are not in place to give them a choice in curriculum decisions. This should not be.
)Find groups of students in other places who have read the book and connect them to your students so they can have a dialogue. They can be across town or on the other side of the world. Just connect them for the conversations.
)Hook people up with @tiffanymjewell This Book is Antiracist and other gems by placing copies in free libraries and everywhere...Make it so folks can't escape it.đŸ’đŸŸâ€â™€ïž
)Remind your school board and elected officials that they serve children FIRST, and the fastest way to disenfranchise someone is to silence them and disregard their experience and opinion. This happens all the time in schools and it shouldn't.
