I noticed a lot of my Twitter friends are using soundbars or do not have speakers at all. Here are some recommendations on studio monitors that are way better than having a soundbar for a small room and apartments. I am recommending speakers I actually used and tested. 1/6
I recommend are Studio Monitors. Why studio monitors? These speakers are the ones you see in studios to mix films and music and two these speakers have a built-in amplifier so all you need is a DAC(Digitial To Analog Converter)for your TV(More on optical later) 2/6
Here are the ones I recommend. JBL 305P MkII. Yamaha& #39;s HS5, Presonus(Eris E5), and the Klipsch R-15PM. I personally use the HS5 and 8. The bass on all these speakers are so good you do not need a sub-woofer but you can add one if you like. The R-15PM has a built-in DAC. 3/6
With studio monitors, you have to plug each speaker into the outlet and turn them on manually. Again, these speakers have a built-in amp. This is the typical back of a studio monitor speaker. I suggest getting the XLR into male RCA for cables to plug into the DAC. 4/6
With these speakers, you are going to need a DAC so your TV can send the signal to the speakers via optical. This is a 2.0 setup so you do not need ARC to get uncompressed audio. Optical gives you two channels of uncompressed audio I use this one with a remote. 5/6
In order for all this to work you have to put your TV audio(In the audio options) into PCM. If you don& #39;t you are going to have some crazy noise. Also, you need to have the gain behind the speakers at max to get that peak sound. 6/6
I suggested this setup instead of soundbars to a lot of my close friends and they are amazed at the detail, loudness, and near field experience. Nothing like a good film experience with amazing audio. All the items listed can be purchased at Amazon and go for under $400 or less.
Sample. Video doesn’t do it justice but it gives you an idea how loud and clear it is. This film has great audio with the DTS-MA track staying at 5Mbps.
