so how about that blurryface like? I know some are convinced clancy is dead bc the blurryface account likes true things to guide us.

I’m going to argue that this IS true AND clancy is not dead, because vialism includes more than suicide itself. (as such, light cw suicide )+
first off, background reading! here’s @_bIurryface’s EXCELLENT thread about how blurryface’s likes have been used to steer us in the right direction.+ https://twitter.com/_biurryface/status/1378126798848942082
my understanding is @shlofolina meant the attention that was drawn to clancy got a lot of eyes on him, so now it is advantageous to the bishops for him to die. I agree!

many people take “vialism took place” as “clancy died,” which I kindly don’t think is the case.+ https://twitter.com/shlofolina/status/1378072739530084352
one, “vialism took place” is passive phrasing: it doesn’t have a subject doing the action. so what is that? could be, “clancy offed himself.” maybe. some are talking like the bishops forced him to die/killed him, which is not how it works. the violence in dema is not physical.+
the bishops do manipulate people into death, but ultimately you don’t die in there against your will. that’s the whole thing. if vialism were synonymous with suicide, there would be no possibility except that manipulation worked. BUT. vialism is that manipulation, itself.+
vialism isn’t just death, it’s the cultural messaging that puts you to it. it’s stuff like making you forget, holding up other deaths, erasing variation from life, taking away sources of hope and inspiration, and convincing people that the ones who could help them are dangerous.+
you can look at how they position vultures in the story, too. tyler connected vultures to the RELIGION specifically in austin, not the bishops. he connects vultures to the CULTURE on the record. vialism is a system of thought in our culture, and that is our focus.
my point is, we can absolutely discuss manipulation, deception, coercion, and culture regardless of whether clancy is really dead. all those things are part of vialism. like, shit, even when he’s describing The Goal™, there’s the “numbers thing” with equal weight as death.+
imo, this is the most important quote. basically, this record is about vialism & its deception, so we need to be clear about what vialism is. it INCLUDES the action of suicide, but it IS a theology: a way of thought.

this is about seeing clearly how culture manipulates people. +
so “vialism took place” could include lots of things we’re seeing. pushing the death of someone dear to us is super vialist.+
could they do that if he’s not dead? well, everything else they do is a lie. why not? if clancy escaped for good, why WOULDN’T they just say he died? do you think they would be honest about a prominent person getting out? no. they would crush that hope. +
tl;dr

vialism involves the glorification of suicide among other ways of manipulating people into it. blurryface liking a tweet saying that “vialism is taking place” can absolutely be true WHILE clancy is alive, because vialism is a system of lies from the start.
it got memed, but if anyone is curious about how I think vialism works and how it relates to the bishops (that is, what the lie is and how it shapes our fears, according to tyler as I best understand him), here’s my ✨graphic✨ https://twitter.com/banditosleepers/status/1378839073431855105
I wrote this thread so I could split my thoughts on why clancy is alive into two parts, bc the twitter thread tool literally wouldn’t let me make it that long. SO. if you made it this far, here’s the reason I posted this https://twitter.com/banditosleepers/status/1386053255352885249
