I had the honor of having an Aliyah at our niece& #39;s bat mitzvah today. For you beautiful goyim, this means I chanted the blessings (with Boss at my side!!) before and after our niece read a passage directly from the Torah.

As a #nonbinary Jew, I am neither son of NOR daughter of Reuven and Battia, so this caused me some anxiety in the days leading up to today. 3/7
Thing is, today was IN NO WAY about me, so I put it out of my mind and focused on our beautiful niece becoming an adult in the eyes of the #Jewish community and celebrating all of her hard work over the last year. 4/7
My sister put together programs for the non-Jews among us to explain the ceremony and how the people involved were part of our niece& #39;s life.

My sister, the brilliant and beautiful #WaverlyEarp to my errant and scattered #WynonnaEarp did her research and I was called as Matsima "yeled" Reuven & Battia: not son of, not daughter of, but CHILD OF.
