I& #39;m not a artist but someone who loves to buy art I agree you should charge what your art is worth but I have been in situations where I can& #39;t spend 50$ on a sketch headshot. this thread is very misleading and just makes small artist feel bad... https://twitter.com/Thuminnoo/status/1385504937258409984">https://twitter.com/Thuminnoo...
a small artist getting a 5 20$ commision a week is better than 1 200$ commision a month. art is a skill its a luxury and if people can& #39;t afford to spend 200$ on one peice of art they won& #39;t buy it... which will hurt small artist(small businesses)
this thread is implying that the same people who spend 20-50$ on art will spend 100-200 on the same art when that just isn& #39;t the case... I& #39;m lucky I make above minimum wage now but even I can& #39;t afford to buy multiple 100-200$ peices a month.
I know this thread is about artist valuing their work and I agree with that. often times when I commision someone who I think is under charging i tip to make up for it. but having the idea everyone should charge hourly for art is now turning art into something you can pump
out like a factory. and that& #39;s so unhealthy and not fair. I understand this is a unpopular opinion and probably wring of me to say. but I& #39;m not rich I& #39;m not someome who has the ability to spend that much. this thread is turning art into something only rich people can have...
and that hurts everyone I know its wrong of me to say I cant give artists the money they deserve for their work and I feel horrible which is why I go to artist who are in my price rage and then only occasionally go to artist who are a bit more expensive after budgeting.
