Today might be the day when I have the courage to watch the videotape of my master's thesis defense from 1997. I've never watched it.
It is called "Critical Reflection on the Use of E-Mail in Teaching English as a Second Language" I did action research on my teaching of ESL with email as explained through the lens of Diffusion of Innovation theory.
I had to fight for that topic. The first thesis advisor said "email is a fad" and did not approve of that topic so he would not work with me. Nevertheless I persisted, got a new advisor, and focused on that.
The defense was open so lots of people showed up. Some guy had a videocamera and taped it. I was not expecting that. So I confiscated the videotape after the defense and have moved it around with me since 1997.
Some of the related thoughts from that era were integrated into this book from 1999 which I coauthored with @markwarschauer and Christine Meloni. We wrote this book round robin style on email. https://amzn.to/3dL7Evc
