This semester, my students made new Wikipedia pages for different rock units through the @WikiEducation program.

It was an entirely different writing experience for them, and I saw FAR more excitement and engagement than for any other assignments I have ever given. They learned about copyright, creative commons licensing, and writing for a non-science audience.
They asked if it was appropriate to put their page link on their resume/CV and I said "absolutely!" - because their rock unit will now get far more attention than it would if it were stuck in papers behind an academic paywall. @WikiEducation is a wonderful #scicomm opportunity.
